Abstract: . . . also collated data on national support to wind energy R&D in EU member states1. From this study, it is apparent that, while support for R&D is sometimes available, it is often sporadic. Moreover, it is common to find support included under a general “Renewable Energy Systems” budget line, along with other technologies. National support is often unsure; or not subject to clear long-term strategic objectives. A Wind Energy Technology Platform The proposed wind energy platform will facilitate collaboration . . . . . . In return, should the proposal be successful and receive the full support of member states and EU institutions, the wind energy platform will provide an enormous boost to the wind industry and to European leadership alike. The Wind Energy Technology Platform – Core Aims Close cooperation among the wind energy sector, EU institutions, national governments, wider energy stakeholders, the public, the financial community and R&D institutions Future cost competitiveness through R&D and market development . . . . . . This advisory board will have two primary tasks: to develop and expand the existing R&D Strategy into a Strategic Research Agenda, and to develop at Market Development Strategy. The research agenda would guide the sector’s collaborative R&D activities, laying out R&D priorities, timeframes and budgets. At present the SRA exists in part, in draft form, as the R&D Strategy of the Wind Energy Network. The Market Development Strategy . . . --3000,6,250,3447,18591
